As we return to the school building, see some familiar faces, familiar situations...take a moment to stop and reflect on the fact that YOU SURVIVED!!! Virtal learning was a BEAR ( a mean one), staying at home, not being able to see your friends and even family members in some cases was terrible...and just the fear of the pandemic and the unknown was enough to make you scream. But...remember, you are reading this right now because YOU SURVIVED!! Something in you pushed yourself to fight through virtual learning, sometimes isolation, and maybe even sadness to be right here right now. We are in this together and we will continue to surive our transition back to "semi normal". We'll stay SAFE, stay SMART and focus on achieving SUCCESS this year.

Be A Deliberate Scholar

Learning is always a two way process...knowledge/information must be made available...and there must be someone to receive it. As you sit in each class, at your desk, what are you receptive to? The attention of your friends? The food in your backpack that you're trying to figure out how to sneak and eat? The cell phone that you can't seem to keep your eyes off of?  The music piping through your headphones (that you THINK the teacher doesn't see in your ears) that you are not supposed to be wearing in class?
Or...are you deliberately learning? Are you making a real effort to receive the information that your teachers are making available during each class session? The deliberate scholar arrives to each class mentally receptive and prepared to receive information...TO LEARN. Notetaking instruments are out and ready, your mind is clear of other distractions and focused on the information that is already in your notes...and new information that is to come. Receptive students become deliberate scholars. Deliberate scholars find success within their reach...and in their future.

Keys To Success

In order to be sucessful you must reflect upon where you have been, look towards where you plan on going and set goals to get there. Learning goals are a great place to start. After reflecting on what made you successful and unsuccessful last semester, wipe the slate clean and set learning goals for the new semester. Identify those areas where you need a little help...more explanation...more practice...and begin getting stronger. Attend tutorials, ask more questions during class, ask your teachers for other enrichment suggestions. While achieving your learning goals, remember this...APATHY HAS NO PLACE IN YOUR PLAN FOR SUCCESS...it is a silent killer that frustrates, slows time and distracts you from your goals.

           YOU HAVE THE KEYS!
Unlock the door to your SUCCESS! :D
